Web 2: The Need For Collaboration

Web 2: The Need For Collaboration

What is Web2?

Hello everyone, Welcome to the day four of my Crazy Blogger challenge😁.

Today I will be writing about Web2 , what it is all about and why the need for it.

There have been so many talks about Web2 and Web3 recently, Infact I heard there is a Web5😉.

So for this Post I will writing about the Web2 and Why it was created.

Meaning

Web2 is a term used to describe the evolutions to the way software developers use the Web.

According to Wikipedia,

Web 2.0 (also known as participative (or participatory)[1] web and social web)[2] refers to websites that emphasize user-generated content, ease of use, participatory culture and interoperability (i.e., compatibility with other products, systems, and devices) for end users.

So generally, the idea behind Web2 was to ensure more collaboration by users without having to change anything related to the technical specifications of the Web. We can say it is a Second generation Web😁.

Since more people are now using the Web, the way information are shared needed to be improved to make their experience worthwhile.

That is to say the Web2 is an improvement of Web1. Yes there was a Web1.

Example of Web2 Applications

Some common examples of the Web2 applications are;

  • WordPress blogs
  • YouTube, lol, Yes 😁
  • Google Maps
  • Twitter
  • Facebook

Why Web2.

The need for more speedy sharing of information and collaboration led to why the Web had to evolve to Web2.

Some reasons why we needed the Web2 are;

  • The need to use blogs instead of always using Personal Websites.
  • Advertising had to evolve to including Cost per link instead of just Page views.
  • Web2 is very easy to use as compared to Web1.

Conclusion

The Web keeps evolving as more people get access and acquainted to it. So, Web2 provided a more user friendly way to use the Web than Web1. The Web3 even does better.

In my next Post, I will be writing more on Web3.
